E3 07: Silent Hill: Origins Hands-On

I have been looking forward to trying out Silent Hill: Origins ever since I heard it was coming to the PSP. In fact, it was a definite system seller for me. I finally got a chance to try it out at the incredibly tricked out Barker Hangar on Friday and I'll just say right now that it was everything I was hoping it would be. I made my way through the opening level and even amongst the flashing lights and loud sounds of the hangar, I found myself appropriately creeped out, reveling in the opportunity to be back in my beloved Silent Hill once again.
This game is basically a prequel to the previous games, following the story of a trucker who rescues the legendary Alessa after her disfiguring fire and finds himself in the terrifying nether world of Silent Hill. The first level takes place in the hospital (one of the most terrifying levels of the original game) and appropriately enough, the first enemy you run into is one of SH's infamous nurses. Battle in this game has been altered slightly, adding in a new mechanic wherein your weapons will eventually break after repeated use. Often you can find single use weapons in a pinch, but your trucker is certainly no slouch in the fisticuffs department. Still in place are the bone crunching finishing moves that finally send your enemies back to the dark bowels from which they came.
The gameplay, look and feel is very evocative of the first two games and long time fans of the franchise will find a lot to love in it. I await its arrival anxiously and we'll be sure to bring you a fully detailed review once we get our hands on it.

I can't get over how much this story sounds like it was written by fifteen year old girls for some fanfiction.com site.
Yeah, I don't get this at all. Where was a trucker mentioned, ever, rescuing Alessa from the fire?
I can see how a random trucker could be driving through the towns interstate strip, as the catalyst happens, and the other world takes form, and, being at rucker, has some shady past dealings that get him drawn in...
But the fuck. Enough with her stupid fucking fired up BBQ body on the road, directing people like they were airplanes of guilt, onto her landing.. strip.. of.. bacon.
(Until they remake SH1, and mention a trucker every ten minutes.)
Sorry I had to post again to clarify?
^^^ Um, huh?
Anyhoo... I too am stoked for this one - definitely one of my "most-wanted" titles on the PSP along with God of War.
Can't Wait!

Ok... this is a system seller for me for sure!
Even better, I'll wait until the new PSP shows up in the UK, and link it up to my PS3/TV out, and play the game on the big screen!
Can't wait!
