E3 07: Wii Fit - Reggie And Shiggy Head-Butt-Off

wiifitpic.jpg

Continuing their mission to incorporate positive benefits from gaming with extremely odd-looking peripherals, Nintendo today announced Wii Fit and the accompanying device, for now called the Wii Balance Board. It’s about the size and shape of a scale. It sorta is a scale, actually.

Are you sad because you can’t use your Wii to do yoga, step cardio, learn to dance, do pushups, mime hoola hoops and head-butting soccer balls? Do you wish Nintendo provided you with a game and peripheral that would accomplish exactly that while also tracking your Body Mass Index as it changes (hopefully for the better) over time?

Wii Fit, your time has come.

Three sexy fitness instructors (only one dude, sadly) showed the Nintendo E3 event audience how the Wii Balance Board will help correct your balance and posture while you stretch standing on one leg, practice step aerobics, and perform sideways twists while getting relevant feedback on how to improve your body-mind-Nintendo connection.

Even Reggie got into the game, playing against no less a figure than Shigeru Miyamoto in an intense virtual soccer ball head-butting contest. No, I'm not making that up. Yes, that's one of the minigames. You're as surprised as I am. Anyway, despite taking a few cleats to the head (you dodge objects that aren’t soccer balls), Reggie kicked ass. He took no names though, which was okay...for now.
