EIEIO 07: Nine Games And A Funeral

Hey, so you’ve probably read just the tiniest little bit about how “crazy” and “overwhelming” E3 was, either here on GayGamer or on one of your lesser game news sites like GameSpot or IGN (those poor kids…). And it was. Of course it was.
But stuck in the mighty swarming craw of E3 was a little place called the Hotel California: a shady, low-key collection of bungalows and patios, good food, hot babes and a handful of amazing independently-developed games. I’m speaking of Gamecock’s EIEIO (Expo for Interactive Entertainment: Independent and Original), which featured nine independently developed games gathered under the protective umbrella of Gamecock Media Group’s hands-off, nurturing and supportive umbrella. (The games were: Dementium: The Ward; Dungeon Hero; Fury; Hail to the Chimp; Insecticide; Legendary: The Box; Mushroom Men, Sabotage and Section 8.)
Fruit Brute and I walked into this secret garden without knowing what to expect, and we were immediately greeted by Gamecock Executive Producer Tim Hesse, who welcomed us with the words “Wanna burger? We’ve got the grill fired up. Beer? Take a seat; take your time, then we’ll see some games.” Need I say more?
Make the jump to read about cocksuckers and geniuses! Trust me...
Actually, we were first greeted by a gaggle of aforementioned hot babes who, despite being the wrong wattage for our outlets were nevertheless darling. “Wanna cocksucker?” They asked as we approached, brandishing large Gamecock-branded lollipops.
“We are cocksuckers!” I shot back before Fruit Brute could clamp his hand over my mouth.
The girls tittered, except the fabulous one who looked like Fergie. She’d been down this road before, I thought. Then one pretty blonde put a finger to her chin as if concentrating on something very challenging before exclaiming: “So am I!”
And we were in. And we did see some games, some great games. And we’ll be writing about them. But first I wanted to give crazy mad props to the Gamecock dudes for creating a manageable and fun environment for overworked press folk and the teams of the nine games they showcased at EIEIO. Gamecock piggybacked the insanity of E3 and turned the grist into gold with designers who spent nearly as much time applauding the hands-off non-corporate appeal of Gamecock as they did showing us their fine handiwork.
Cheers to the cocks from the cocksuckers, and cheers to the games!
