Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War US Boxart

fftboxart.jpg

When games are localized, generally the cover art changes considerably to attract American gamers. If you look at the Ratchet and Clank series, the Japanese box features both characters with bright, open anime eye and smiling faces, whereas the American box sells the game as hardcore characters with Ratchet grimacing and holding a smoking gun.

When the box art for the Japanese version of Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War for PSP came out, Squeenix fanboys and girls were concerned that we would lose the gorgeous concept art that graced the Japanese version. I am happy to report that the artwork will remain the same for the simultaneous European and American releases in October, only some of the graphic elements have been moved around.

Siliconera
has a great side by side comparison of the two boxes. I prefer ours to theirs. The concept art is clearer and you get the point that they are all standing on a cliff. In the Japanese box, there is a foggy smoky effect placed by the logo, so they look suspended. Also I like the sunburst effect on our logo, where the logo looks like it is emanating its own light.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
