Marathon Your Way To XBLA, Don't Forget Your Board Games!

Last week, we heard news that Marathon: Durandal (800 MS Points) was coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade. Well, here's some information on it to help you decide whether or not you want to grab it this Wednesday. first off, for those who might not know, Marathon is a landmark First Person Shooter by Bungie that is the inspiration for Halo. Twas' a grand series and, even though I have them for the Mac, I'll very likely grab this one. Here's a brief summary of Marathon: Durandal:
Seventeen years ago, you survived a vicious Pfhor assault on the U.E.S.C. Marathon. Now you have been awakened by the enigmatic, sentient A.I. called Durandal and sent to an alien world to uncover the mysteries of their advanced technology. In Marathon: Durandal, armed with only a pistol, you are humanity’s last champion!
Everything in this game has been redone in HD goodness as well as redesigned controls for the Xbox 360 controller, as if they'd have a choice on that one.
Now Marathon won't be the only game coming out this Wednesday. In fact, I'd have to say that if it weren't for that title, this Wednesday's Arcade release would seem rather unremarkable. ...and that brings me to Spyglass Board Games.
SPG, as I shall call it form this point on, is a collection of, you guessed it, board games. You'll be able to choose from Chess, Checkers, Mancala or Reversi. You'll also be able to stare each other down with the Xbox LIVE Vision camera. There are twelve achievements you can get as well as a selection of custom game pieces. If board games are your thing, you might want to look in to that. If not, go with Marathon: Durandal.
Full release, after the jump.
This week, we have two anticipated titles coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade, Marathon Durandal, and Spyglass Board Games. Both will come to Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 this Wednesday, August 1, beginning at 9:00 a.m. GMT (2:00 a.m. Pacific).
