New Opoona RPG Media
I'm not sure what to think of Opoona. I like quirky games that don't follow the formula of fantasy swords and dragons and magic, or manage to be interesting despite having a smaller budget than the big guys and eschew the whole million dollar movie route of CG emo kids on motorcycles. Opoona reminds me of a 3D version of games like Earthbound, but with even more esoteric character design. Furthermore, it's one of the first original RPGs to be announced for the Wii.
RPGamer has posted a latest group of screenshots that reveal some more of the gameplay, as well as some magazine scans here that say stuff about the game that I don't really understand. Journeying definitely will be unique in this game, as the little alien bundle of shapes goes on a quest to avenge his parents with similar bundles of shapes, which may or may not be his siblings. I'll tell you one thing, this game has cult following written all over it. I can see the sites dedicated to it already, with message board trolls already lining up with grandiose statements. Not that that's a bad thing.
