No Price Cuts For Xbox 360

Analyst Michael Pachter's prediction that Microsoft would announce a price cut so as to not be out done by Sony has been shot down. Microsoft announced that things are fine the way they are with the current pricing scheme of Xbox 360. Pachter originally predicted that the Xbox 360 Elite, Premium and Core would be reduced to $399, $349, and $249. Since this will not come to pass, they will remain $479, $399 and $299 respectively.
This is potentially a wise move for Microsoft whose most expensive version of the Xbox 360, the Elite, is still $20 cheaper than the cheapest PlayStation 3. Gizmodo theorizes that another motive for keeping the current pricing scheme would be to not encourage Nintendo to cut the price on the already hard to find Wii. Doing so would certainly drive more interest to the 'little console that could' and leave the other two, including Xbox 360, farther behind in its trail of dust. Anyways, nice try Pachter, better luck next time.

That picture cracks me up. It looks like he's saying "I will devour this device in less than 12 hours!"
I just had an awesome idea. Can we have a 'Make a Caption' contest every week? This picture would be perfect to start!
Okay, this really pisses me off. I've been waiting for the damn thing to drop in prize for the longest time and now it won't?
I'm getting so tired of waiting I'd buy it at 400 (which is the highest I'm willing to pay for a console), but I don't want it announced two or so months later that they suddenly will drop the price afterall.
Oh poot! I guess I'll go ahead and buy one at $399 when Halo 3 comes out.
Well let me point out that an Xbox 360 is still way cheaper than a decent PC. I mean they are trying to make money selling these things. I was sort of surprised to see that they did not include a bundle of games with the system.
Ok, so there is no news of a price drop? That totally sucks. I want this system but not with all the 3 rings problems. I don't care if I get a 3 year warranty. If the system was perfected nice in the first place, I wouldn't have to send it back. I guess I'm buying a WII.
