Video: Flock Of Seagulls On Guitar Hero Rocks The 80s
The world is a beautiful place, finally, because two of my favorite things have met in the same place: video games and 80s music. Sure, you could listen to all those 80s songs in GTA: Vice City on the radio, but that was kinda ironic, in a self-aware sort of way, and the 80s that Vice City presented was really more of a cartoon. This is 80s music in full-on adoration, because Guitar Hero, if anything, is about unadulterated rock geek-outs. The list of music is astounding, and I'm happier than a clam in saltwater about gay friendly inclusions like Flock of Seagulls and The Go-Go's that made the 80s such a great time to be alive.
I just wish there were less cliche punky designs for the characters, and more hairspray, bouffants, and male lipstick. Let's all take a moment and enjoy the blond frizziness that is Flock of Seagulls and the best line in music ever: "And I ran, I ran so far away, I couldn't get away..."

Eh, I've played. While I love being able to interact with the song on a fundamental level, the song has the feel that it’s artificially difficult. I won’t speak to the original version, but it feels as though the guitarist made the solo difficult to prove that he actually knows how to play the guitar.
I just got GH Rock the 80's and I'm actually a little dissapointed. I really feel this should have been priced as an add on, not a whole new game. The visuals could have been revamped a lot instead of just redressing the venues in gaudier colors and creating one new outfit per guitarist. The interface is exactly the same, and I think the track list is actually pretty mediocre. I'll admit that I'm more of a fan of the new wave and dance and pop sides of the 80's than the anthem rock, but the covers on some of these songs are pretty horrid. As far as I can tell, you can't buy any new chracters but the Grim Ripper (maybe I just haven't gotten far enough), and you can't buy new songs?!?!
Yeah, you can't buy new songs, you can only buy the grim reaper. This really is a full-price expansion pack for guitar hero two. Heck, when it loads your save game data, it's the guitar hero 2 screen.
Incidentally, the guitar part on expert has 75% fewer notes than the bass part on expert. 1159 for the bass and 861 for the guitar. And neither is very difficult.
