Warhammer Online: 300,000 Space Marines A Month
In barely more than a month, older-than-old-school tabletop-franchise-cum-MMORPG Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning has mopped up 300,000+ players for the beta test in North America and Europe. This already makes it one of the most popular MMORPGS in MMO history, certainly beta test history, and cements the title as one of the big next-gen MMOs to watch in 2008.
(On a side note: no, the phrase "next-gen" won't go away until somebody comes up with something just as vaguely tantalizing but even more frustratingly stupid. Now's yer chance!)

GOA today announced that more than 300,000 players have signed up for the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) closed beta test. In little more than a month, EA Mythic’s highly-anticipated Warhammer Online has amassed a growing army of willing participants in Europe and North America, making the beta one of the most popular in massively multiplayer gaming history.
Poised to be one of the biggest PC game releases of 2008, WAR is slated for official launch in early 2008. The Beta Center is still open and accepting applications at:
