Breath of Fire II Hits European Wii Virtual Console

Breath of Fire II

We don't usually report on the European Virtual Console releases anymore, but I could not resist for this particular one. In addition to Galaga '90 (TurboGrafx16 - 600 Wii Points) and Volleyball (NES - 500 Wii Points), Capcom's Breath of Fire II (SNES - 800 Wii Points) comes out this week. It's such an amazing game, truly one of those titles born out of what I consider the Golden Age of RPGs. I've been meaning to pop my copy in for a while now but just haven't gotten around to it. The music, the graphics, the story and size of the world (you could even build your own town and move it around) were great for its time and it still holds up well today.

If you're a fan of RPGs and you've never experienced this title before, I highly recommend you take it for a spin. Eight-hundred points is a helluva deal. Since it's coming out in Europe today, I'm sure a release on North America Virtual Consoles isn't too far off. For the full release, make the jump.

Virtual Console Turns Up The Heat With Dragons, Space Rockets And Sports!

10th August 2007 - Get ready for an epic adventure that will take you back in time. This week the classic Breath of Fire™ II is setting the Virtual Console alight. Originally released on Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996, this is a game of friendship, heroics, rivalries and combat in a role-playing format. Players assume the role of Ryu, who sets off to rescue his sister battling mighty dragons and other foes with his brave band of followers along the way. Available for 800 Wii Points, this is a game you won’t want to miss.

Next up this week, battle your way to the furthest reaches of the galaxy as the 1989 arcade shooter GALAGA™ ’90 hits Virtual Console. This Turbografx title will once again have players fighting their way through space to breach the enemy strong hold of the Planet Galaga. With each level split into rounds featuring different alien enemies, players must seek out the best route to their goal, collecting Capsules to open new Dimensions along the way. GALAGA™ ’90 is available to download today for 600 Wii Points.

One of the fastest team games around ventures onto Virtual Console today. Originally released in 1987 on the Nintendo Entertainment System Volleyball recreates this action-packed sport in a way anyone can play! With eight male or female teams to select from, players pick their ultimate team and take part in practise rounds, before heading off to participate in games at an international level. With lobs, attacks and daring dives all at a players disposal, take on the Wii or a human opponent as Volleyball arrives on Virtual Console for 500 Wii Points.

These great games join the list of 120 classic titles already available for Virtual Console in Europe.
