GTA IV Delayed Until 2008
Development for GTAIV has not gone as smoothly as Take-Two would have liked. They just announced that Grand Theft Auto IV will be delayed until Spring of 2008 because of, “additional development time required to complete the title.”
Strauss Zelnick, the Chairman of Take-Two released his statement on the delay:
"With Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is setting a new standard for next generation video games. Certain elements of development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms. We all recognize that perfecting the game is vital and I can assure everyone it will be worth the wait. We owe it to the game's millions of fans, to our dedicated development team, and to our shareholders to make sure that Grand Theft Auto IV is a groundbreaking gaming experience that takes maximum advantage of next generation technology."
Sam Houser, the Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games assured that the development on both Sony and Microsoft platforms is pushing the hardware to the limits,
“The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms. As always, our goal is to surpass even the wildest expectations of the game's fans, and to create the ultimate high definition video game experience.”
When 1up contacted Strauss Zelnick, the chaiman of Take-Two about the GTAIV delay, they asked him why Manhunt 2 has not been listed on a release lineup. He responded, “It's because, you know... obviously, we don't have an M rating yet." That seems to be expected with the title. They still have not commented on how they are going to handle this problem in the States, but this week Rockstar filed an appeal with the Video Appeals Community to overturn the British Board of Film Classification’s ban on Manhunt 2 in the UK.

although i might cry a little having to wait untill next year, i'm not going to moan like all the kiddies will. As long as its perfected then lets hope this delay is worth it! (i'm sure it will)
