Japan Says "Moshi Moshi" To Blu-ray Porn
According to PC World, the Japanese adult film industry has made a strong commitment to the Blu-ray format, substantially upping its power to re-standardize the video format world. This move comes thanks to a deal with a Taiwanese manufacturer that allows porn makers to sidestep Sony's DADC disc-replicating subsidiary and its anti-adult film policy. Adoption of the VHS standard was a killing stroke in the first format war, although the current situation is being paid a lot more attention: Disney, for instance, one of the biggest movie makers in the world and a must-have market for any video format with plans for world domination, refuses to have its own movies printed by a company also boasting adult movie titles.
That's why you'll find most US-made porn on HD-DVD and not Blu-ray...yet.
Because you don't see Disney pitching a fit about plain old DVD porn (do you? It hasn't stopped me from watching The Fox and the Hound and Foxy Hounds on the same DVD player, that's all I'm sayin'), so maybe Disney's cultural blackmail will only hold out until a decisive winner emerges from this round of format wars. Besides, any kid would be lucky to accidentally watch Tiny Dancer Presents Wet 'N' Wild Sauna Boys 4: Backstroke Backdoor Boogie instead of freaking Bambi. Can you tell I'm enjoying this?
At any rate, US porn makers only chose HD-DVD because it was cheaper to make - they seem happy to work with whomever will let them sell 1080p money shots. Will you one day be watching animated Yaoi HD on your PS3? A boy can only hope...

Interesting article....
Porn is certainly a big player, whether companies like to admit it or not. It's certainly one of the driving factors that got people onto the internet to start with (and still is).
I'm not sure, though, that I want an "updgrade" in my porn. DVD's are bad enough in ruining the fantasy as it is--I'm not sure I want to see every mole and freckle in HD.
I don't know why the porn industry is such a big deal anymore in the decision-making process after the popularizing of the internet. I went through my teens with internet access and porn on video just seemed like an antiquated idea.
The whole yaoi sucks. The guys look like girls, there`s always the raped crybaby and when girls paint that stuff "certain parts" look like... well... you know the deal. I just say "reverse p*nis syndrome" here!
