Lair Is Out, WTF?!?!

Fruit and I went on an evening excursion to peruse out surrounding queendom this eve, and to our suprise at Ye Ole Gamestoppe there layest a copy of Lair for PS3. It literally swooped under our radar. The clerk confirmed that it should have come out on Friday, but they were selling it a day early. I found it odd that the game wasn't released on a Tuesday like every other self-respecting game.
Anywho, has anyone out there played the game yet? I'm dying to hear some impressions. Last I checked, the SIXAXIS controls are very finicky and sometimes your dragon will do tricks you don't tell it to perform. I implore you, post your impressions below, I'm still on the fence about this title, although riding a flaming dragon all night long sounds like a good time to me. ;)

Possibly selling it early due to the bad press its been getting. Hoping people will pick it up before they hear the reviews... ALOT of big hyped games do it...
Yup...played it at my friend's place after picking up our badges. He pre-ordered it and they called him this afternoon.
It was fun, but the controls were very finicky. But very reminiscent of Rogue Squadron. You set out on missions that have several objectives.
I think it shows off the PS3 very nicely though in both graphics and sound. Definitely a showcase game even if it's not the best game thats going to come out on the PS3 this year.
I work for GameStop and I was surprised to get an email from Corporate saying Sony wanted the game on shelves immediately. I agree with Scazza that it probably has to do with the poor reviews the game has received.
Good move to have it in before the holiday so that PS3 owners have a new game to play. Unfortunate that it is Lair given the reviews though.
GameSpot.... 4.5 out of 10....Poor!
I don't know if this is a case of overblown expectations, but I think some of these scores are a little ridiculous.
4.9? 4.5? Go! Puzzle got a 6.
"Surf's Up" got a frigging 6.2.
Lair got a 4.9?
Yes, controlling the dragon with the SIXAXIS is often challenging, and there are some very real issues with fighting accurately until you get the hang of it, but... this game has stunning graphics, an amazing 7.1 soundtrack, plays in 1080p, has a great, epic storyline, and frankly is a ton of fun to play.
Warts and all, I'd still say the game is more in the 7-8 point range (mainly because of the difficulty in controls). Scores in the 4's just seem... a little angry. Oh well. I'm still enjoying it. Don't let the reviews dissuade you from giving this great game a shot.
