Nippon Ichi Likes The 360 Too

nis.jpg

In an odd press release that you can view over at Siliconera, Nippon Ichi has announced that it will be developing for the Xbox 360, making it finally a multi-platform company across all the major consoles. Starting out as the PS2 company that made quirky and sprite heavy old school RPGs (thank the stars!), it will be interesting to see how the company grows and what it's games will look like on the different consoles--are we just looking at multi-platform ports or actually different types of games? Not that I would have any problem with Disgaea 3 coming out both on PS3 and Xbox 360--that makes choosing one of the consoles that much easier. A situation that, until resolved, not only keeps me up at night, but makes daily life gray and listless.

It's also interesting to see how many japanese style RPGs are heading to the Microsoft way, with almost no mention of RPGs planned for the PS3 other than the big XIII. Will Sony lose hold of the biggest gaming market in Japan? I highly doubt that will happen without a terrible pillow-tossing catfight and some nasty name calling. Can't wait.

Wow, if NiS starts developing for 360, that will be the clincher that I need to get a 360.
