PAX 07: A Triplet Of Mass Effect Vids
With the whole of gamedom split between PAX and GC, it's a good day to mull over a few of the new media rolling out of Seattle and Leipzig, Germany. Here we've got the first of three Mass Effect developer walkthroughs straight from the PAX floor. The graphical prowess that BioWare's built this baby upon is readily apparent - the in-engine dialogue looks almost pre-rendered, except for the poor lip-synching and too-subtle facial animations.
I'm beyond excited for this game, since BioWare has a history of producing amazingly well-realized, in-depth RPGs. It's also been a while since their last hit, and I have noticed BioWare's products becoming increasingly formulaic, from the linearity of NWN to the design formula for SW:KotOR - all great games, but I've worried that they might be losing their magic. The fish-lipping and botox faces you see here are one reason why Destructoid found the game disappointing, but I'm hoping the exquisite environment, breadth of story and engaging gameplay will ultimately come out on top.
Make the jump for the second and third parts of the walkthrough and let us know what you think.

Quote: '...fish-lipping and botox faces...'
That has to be the worse reason to find a RPG game dissapointing. Suerly it must be the gameplay and storyline?
In the same vein that the amazingly great looking Oblivion receives multiple awards even though it has game breaking flawed game mechanic that can be exploited because it can't be fixed, and a very non involving storyline!
*shrug* :) Anyway, I am looking forward to this as well.
