Smash Bros Dojo Update: New Character!
Adding to the already impressive lineup of stars for Super Smash Bros. Brawl such as Pit and Solid Snake, comes a surprise in the form of a Pokemon trainer. He has the power to call three Pokemon to fight for him, Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. Switch between all three at will while Red stands on the sidelines.
There have been no details revealed yet about the characters special moves, but I imagine they will closely resemble the main attacks of each character in the Pokemon cannon. Hopefully Red does more from the sideline than calling the Pokemon in and out of battle. I would like to see him possibly offer support items.

::grumble:: I need them to allay my fears and announce that Ness will be returning!
I'm pretty sure that Ness will be returning since he was one of the original unlockables. Plus, they've already announced an item from the Earthbound/Mother series.
OH! I forgot. I believe the correct name for this particular character is Red from the Fire Red/Leaf Green series of the game and manga(based on is design), not Ash/Satoshi from the Anime.
Can we get a confirmation of Red as the character from any Pokefanatics out there?
I agree that it does appear to be Red. And below is a link to an image of Red and Green. However, the Smash Brothers Dojo isn't revealing details.

It appears as though the character doesn't have a name and is just going by "Pokemon Trainer", not Red/Ash/whatever.
It's definitely Red. Just google his FireRed/LeafGreen official art makeover--it's definitely him, no doubt.
Makes sense if you think about it--why would an anime character be in a game with characters from games?
