Speed Racer The Movie Proves It Is The End Times
Have I just had my head under a particularly obscure rock? Is it common knowledge that the Wachowski brothers of "Matrix" fame are working on a Speed Racer movie starring the dreamy Emile Hirsch as Speed, the bearish John Goodman as Pops and the lovably bitchy Christina Ricci as Trixie? And if you all knew about it, why wasn't I told? This is world shattering, apocalyptic news! Set to be released in 2008, the Wachowski brothers wanted to pay homage to the show that introduced them to Japanese animation. I can't even imagine the orgiastic crashes that these guys have planned for us.
And already games have been announced for the new franchise, but not in the way that you'd expect. Seems they'll be taking the lo-fi route as the announced systems have only been the PS2, the DS, and the Wii. I'm guessing that they'll be using an interesting control schema on the Wii and DS, but the PS2 announcement kinda throws me for a loop. The game will be developed by Sidhe Interactive, makers of the PSP's Gripshift and the yet-to-be-released Jackass game.
I'm speechless, in shock, and have fallen and can't get up. Help?

They already showed the Mach 5 on some conventions and the lovely and future to be husband on an alternate reality Emile already did some inteeviews.... and you also forgot the lovely and very sexy Susan Sarandon as Mom Racer!!!!!!!!!!!

They had a media blitz either kicked off by or ending with a press conference unveiling the car in June.

I just can't get my head around what the brothers are going to do with Speed...V was good... but ugh *sigh*
If they wanted to pay homage to the the show that got me into anime... then we would have one violent and wire fight packed version of Sailor Moon.
