Video: Final Fantasy Retrospective Part 7
It's time for more Final Fantasy Retrospective, and this time around its the story of Final Fantasy X, or as I like to call it, "Final Fantasy Twink Athlete." Although I'm not really into that kind of guy, Tidus was one of the cutest main characters to hit Final Fantasy, and a symbol of the series moving towards more realistic, modern, humanistic and empathic characters. Although I was in complete awe of FFX upon it's release, the retrospective also deals with FFX-2, a game which I won't comment on for fear of hate mail from it's many fans.
If you experienced Spira and know that Sin is a lot more dangerous than lying to your parents, then you owe it to yourself to experience this retrospective of one of the most popular Final Fantasies since VII.

I loved FFX, myself. I felt it had the most fun battle system of the entire series, from the actual turn-based combat (no more ATB) to the summons you could control as characters in their own right.
It's a shame the series has fallen so far downhill since this game's release.
As for FFX-2, I'd still rather play it than FFXII.
Is FFXII really that bad, and is FFX really that popular?
I started out on FFVII and being the first type of its kind I've played, it made it memorable and has a much larger impact than any other game. I wonder if FFX would do something similar for me again.
I thought XII was that bad. I played it for 20 hours waiting for the battle system to quit sucking and it never did.
And FFX really is that good. I'd rank it as about the 4th best in the series, behind VI, VIII and IV.
I count two FFs as my favorites in the series. FFVIII was the first RPG I ever played and the first game I ever beat, let alone my virginal FF game, so there's a huge nostalgia factor there. But FFX, for whatever reason, is just plain awesome. I get tingles whenever I hear "To Zanarkand", and cry over "Suteki da ne". FFX-2 I though was a welcome addition to such an emotionally affecting game, providing a nice perky counterpoint to FFX's somber story. Not that X-2 didn't have some good-sappy moments of its own (
I'd love to elaborate more, but it won't do much good other than make me wish I was playing either game again for the very first time. Let it just be said that the pair of them are excellent additions to the series.
