Video: Megazone 23: Blue Garland

It's good to know that even though the Playstation3 is the home of games that are so amazing and advanced that almost none of them are even close to being complete, there will still be that standby of videogames--the Japanese style mecha RPG. Megazone 23: Blue Garland almost seems like it could be a PS2 game, with it's quick-blinking character shots, fairly basic CG and static backgrounds, but that's what I find intriguing. How will companies who specialize in the kind of games that aren't graphics and effects beasts use the capabilities of the PS3? Longer storylines with more in depth character development? Or perhaps just quicker load times and cleaner presentation? It will be interesting to see how this phenomena develops.

On the other hand, can someone explain to me how this game even plays? If I were to make a guess based on this trailer, I would say this is a dating sim with a giant fighting mecha involved in some war-like capacity. Something like being good for picking flowers to give to the odd-hair-colored girl of your dreams.
