Video: Updated PSP Hands-On
Check it: Sony's Senior Product Manager John Koller gave CNet Executive Editor David Carnoy an up-close look at the new PSP. For the first time we see the new speakers, which have migrated northerly, the wireless switch, relocated to the top of the handheld, the same old USB port which will now charge the PSP as well, and some in-depth demonstration of the PSP's new video-out function - showing UMD movies on a TV at 480i and playing PSP games on the television in native resolution as well, turning the PSP into a game controller. In Carnoy's words, "a mini PS2 on your TV."
The back of the unit is enamel rather than matte, and the battery case is slimmed down, but most of the enhancements are on the inside - such as double the RAM to increase loading times (although a handsome insider suggested to me that the increased decreased loading times will be more for new games, and won't retroactively apply to older games with notoriously slow load times - such as The Marvel Trading Card Game).
I was disappointed not to see a close-up comparison of the two units' thickness, but otherwise this vid answered some basic questions about the PSP redux. Should ye be interested, checketh it out!

a close-up comparison of the two units' thickness
This deserves to be accompanied by some juvenile chuckling. ;-)
INCREASED load times?!?!
Decreased! Give me the site for a day and it all goes to hell... I'm a chucklehead. Decreased. Definitely decreased...
He is kinda cute. I would like to see HIS unit's thickness.
Anyone besides me watch that just to oogle at him? He's cute!
Oh uh, right. PSP comparisons. Funny that he didn't show any actual gameplay, but, I suppose it would be fine still.
but may I know when is it lauching? I mean the exact date..
john koller is so hot. he is like uptight in the most adorable way, and i detect a southern accent, like maybe he grew up in south carolina or something? cute. the problem is i can't can't concentrate on the tech specs when he is on it.
Just assuming that we dated, i would hope he would take time off his busy work at sony and emotionally open up.
my fear in this fantasy i'm having right now is that he would be so wrapped up in his work, that like we'd fly together to some trade show in san diego, but instead of going to the beach together, he'd be all wrapped up in meetings and conferences, and I'd just see the inside of the hotel room.
but anyways, PSP slim, i'd get it now that it's a little smaller, locoroco and the daxter games, and cube make it all seem worth it if you have the extra cash.
