What are you playing this weekend?

BioShock

It has been somewhat of an unusual day today. Many things moving all at once in different directions, so some hot gaming action is most certainly in order. I shall definitely be hitting up the BioShock on the Xbox 360 and a bit of The Darkness in addition to that. Other than that, it'll be whatever comes to mind. Likely some Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, too. Jeebus, it's dark FPS time for me, eh? I simply cannot wait to get back home for BioShock after experiencing the first truly frightening moment I've had in a video game since Eternal Darkness' infamous bath tub incident. No spoilers here, so keep playing BioShock and you might see what I'm talking about. I will say it's somewhat...steamy....

So, what's in your console?

I just got my very first console few days ago -- the original Xbox (180?) from a moving sale, with about dozen games, but most without any manual. Still, not bad for $30.

I had no idea how difficult console playing would be! Especially since you have to use THUMBS to control the action. Can there be any fingers that are more clumsy, or less "action oriented"? So I tried Prince of Persia Warrior Within and gave up after 30 minutes. I basically die after 5 minutes no matter what I do. But Burnout 3 Takedown was so much fun. My thumbs were actually hurting from not being able to put the game down.

This weekend I will try the original Halo to see if it really is that good. (My favorite shooter so far is FEAR on the PC). There are also some games I never even heard of -- Crimson Sky and Indigo Prophecy both look interesting. But if I don't get anywhere in Halo, the next one will probably be Hitman2 or Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic -- I've heard good things about both.

What is your favorite old Xbox game?

Bioshock!!! SAturday night we are having a birthday party where the b irthday boy wants to system links our old Xboxs for Halo 2. If the BF or roommate is hogging the Bioshock I'll settle for Sims 2 while awaiting to be reunited with Big Daddy

This may sound like a strange question, but why is the game called "Bioshock"? Is the title somehow relevant to the game? Is it mentioned in the game? Did the designers just think it sounded cool? No particular reason for asking, just curious if anyone knew.

It's supposed to be a spiritual successor to the "System Shock" pair of games that came out a while ago.
That, and the large amount of "shock"ing "bio"logical experiments that take place in the game, I'd imagine.

I have been on a hand held kick recently so I'll be playing Castlevania: Circle of the Moon and Yoshi's Island, both on GBA SP.

This may be the first weekend in while that I don't play games. If I do it will be Valkyrie Profile 2 on the PS2 and/or Fable on the Xbox.

Are you serious? You just made my day!
Since enternal darkness? That bath scene was amazing, so much so I kept a save file permanently there to show other people.
If another game could be as good as eternal darkness that would make up for no sequel =]
My copy of bioshock was preorderd months ago and now I need to get some money to buy it, it's sitting at my gamestop right now. I want to play it so badly now.
