flOw Expansion Brings New Creatures

FlowPink.jpg

The delicious distraction that is Jenova Chen’s flOw for the PS3 expanded upon the original game by adding several playable creatures and a major graphical upgrade from the Flash roots of the original. Currently there are five creatures you can play through from quick dolphin-like creatures to sluggish jellyfish type things. Now with the upcoming expansion, there will be even more creatures to play with in the vast ambient seascape. The new creature is a variation on the circular jellyfish-like creature you could play, and the new enemy is a variation on the circular puffer fish-like creature that pushes you away when you get too close.

One of the surprise features of the game that I enjoyed is the two player mode. It’s an interesting play mechanic that works well in a game that wouldn’t seem like it would support two player action. With the update each player will be able to choose their own creature form. One player could be the poison creature, while the other could be the jellyfish and suck up poisoned enemies. Hopefully That Game Studio will continue to expand upon this beautiful game with more creatures and new gameplay mechanics.
