Kaz Hirai Blows His Own System, Again

The sultan of spin, Kas Hirai, went on record again claiming the PS3 is the undisputed almighty processing god of next-gen consoles. In an effort to milk the PS3 for all of the processing juice it can muster, Hirai claims that developers will have to plug away at the console for another five to six years before its potential is breached. He went on record in the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine saying:
"The power that we've packed into PS3 will really manifest itself in software titles that come up four, five or six years down the line."
Developers have been complaining from the outset that the PS3 is difficult to develop for. A few PS3 titles have been delayed due to the difficulty of development. At one time, developers had similar complaints about the PS2, but that was eventually resolved. Lauding your own console for being a powerhouse only serves to make you look conceited. Offering the support that developers need to optimize their games for your system, would only make your games and your console that much stronger.

How about just make some games now to justify your blu-ray.....I mean... game machine?
Soooooo... he's essentially telling me I should put off purchasing a PS3 until at 4 years from now? Works for me. The only problem is that, 4 or 5 years from now, Nintendo and Microsoft will have come out with their own next gen consoles, which are either as powerful or even more so than the PS3. The only difference will be that they'll have developers supporting them because they were able to sell games on their previous machines, which at the moment is more than we can say for Sony.
You know another console that was hard to develop for? The Saturn. And we all know how that turned out.
I'm just sayin'
