MetaCritic: BioShock Is Highest Ranked 360 Game Ever
MetaCritic.com, a site that aggregates all the reviews of various games, announced today that BioShock has become the highest ranking Xbox 360 game ever with an impressive average review score of 96 out of 100. This number is based on reviews from over sixty different sites and has garnered the 360 version "Universal Acclaim Status" (I don't know what that is but it sure sounds fancy!). The game has also received perfect scores from big wig sites including Game Informer, 1UP, Games Radar, GameSpy, GamePro, Yahoo! Games, Games Daily, and Electronic Gaming Monthly.
But the fun doesn't stop there, not only is it the highest ranking 360 game of all time, but has also taken the honor of top scored game across all platforms for 2007. The BioShock demo, which snuck up on gamers in mid August, is the fastest downloaded demo on Xbox Live to reach the one million mark. This quite impressive and very telling of the quality of this amazing game.
Of course, with the Halo 3 launch just around the corner, we'll see if it can hold onto it's record breaking status. I really hope it does because it certainly deserves it on so many levels. But, something tells me that Big Daddy and Master Chief will be having quite the battle to see which title will become "Game of the Year."

I've never been that interested in halo, or FPSes in general... but I ate up bioshock. I cannot believe how much I loved it. I don't have similar hopes for halo 3.

Agreed! So glad other people feel the same way. There's just something about a solid story and a human element that, to me, will always win over a faceless armored killing machine.
A little game called Mario Galaxy is more likely to rain on Bioshock's GOTY parade than Halo 3.
Although Bioshock is a great game over here, that can't be said in the Asian countries. I lot of my Asian and Chinese friends do not like Bioshock - they think it's good, but not great, deeming it too violent and too dark.
It just goes to show what different cultures we have.
"too violent and too dark"? From the people that bring us tentacle rape porn anime? Seriously, WTF?
This game deserves GOTY in every way, Halo 3 for best multiplayer game.
