Oh My God, Are We Still Talking About This? Episode 23: Wii Vs GameCube
Welcome to the very first issue of our long-celebrated imaginary bitchfest, "Oh My God, Are We Still Talking About This," which I've just invented. This fortnight's OMG, AWSTAT? tackles the ancient question of the Wii's hardware as compared to the GameCube's, which persists despite Shigeru Miyamoto's comments ages ago that the Wii is, indeed, essentially a GameCube, not to mention a whole lot of crap about duct tape.
Newsweek's N'Gai Croal has spent a whole lotta time figuring out that the Wii is more or less 1.5x as powerful as the GameCube, which should only come as a surprise if you've spent the better part of the last year with your Wiimote up your heiny. Also: who cares? I know, the effort was done to help specify how important the Wiimote's innovation is to the Wii's success - but seriously, are we still talking about this?
Looks like we are. I'm with the always-rational Opposable Thumbs, who marveled at the effort that went into researching something most of us acknowledged and dismissed ages ago.
I ask you once again, for the very first time: "Oh my God, are we still talking about this?"
