Rez + XBLA = (Heart)

Few games excite as much emotion from a gamer as Rez. The fondest memory I have of my Dreamcast was booting import copy and sitting in my dorm till obscene hours of the morning glued to the screen. Tragically the game has been exceedingly difficult to find up until recently thanks to a reprinting of the PS2 version.
For those unacquainted, Rez is a gorgeous rail-shooter with context sensitive music and sound effects. Everything about the game is seamlessly stitched together in a beautiful ballet of light and sound, producing something beyond just a good game. It is truly a sight to behold. Rez was created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the same designer responsible for Lumines to give you a distant impression of how the player can interact with the soundtrack. Words really cannot describe what it feels to play Rez for the first time.
This wonderment would surely be lost to the latest generation of gamers, had Q Entertainment not just today announced the upcoming release of Rez HD (tentative title) to the Xbox Live Arcade. Rez HD will have full support for a 16:9 aspect ratio as well as full 5.1 channel audio. Q Entertainment expects to release Rez sometime in winter 2008. No word on if this will be released simultaneously across all regions, nor do we know for sure if there will be trance vibrator support. Simply put, everyone must buy this game the second it is released.

Cannot wait for this game! This is one of those games that I've already bought multiple times (don't ask), and I can't wait to see the changes made for the XBLA version. 5.1 sound > HD visuals!
Also, no love for the XBLA announcement of Ikaruga? Live Arcade is looking to have a great start next year!
this sunny day was just that much more brighter, with this announcement. ^_^
