Woodland Creatures Unite: Ecoris To Receive US Release

I'm not exactly a tree hugger. I drive a emissions blasting gas hog and I like nothing more than to turn a lovable field dwelling creature into my dinner. I am, however, a big sap for doe-eyed cartoons telling me that I'm a bad man. You may or may not recall a game released in japan recently titled Ecoris (a amalgamation of Eco- and Squirrel in Japanese); a light-hearted, earth friendly niche title for the Nintendo DS. Normally be a recipe for embargo as far as the US game industry is concerned publisher Majesco has taken it under their wing.
Eco Creatures: Save the Forest, labeled as the first "eco-conscious" title for the DS, has been picked up for US localization by Majesco. A point-and-click real-time strategy game, players control what appear to be a band of cuddly rodents. In a fight to protect your homeland players must combat pollution and industrialization. There are local and online multi-player with the option for players to design and trade their own maps. Eco Creatures: Save the Forest is scheduled for release in early 2008.
I'm thinking of it as Pom Poko (without the testicles) goes handheld. Hopefully the game turns out to be more than a preachy throw-together title I'm used to seeing from activists. I fully expect to pick up a copy, if only for the adorable squirrel action.

Al Gore just screamed out
"FUCK YES"
I'll probably get it, at least for the cuteness of the concept.
Hopefully the gameplay will be good, at least it has a good message.
