CSI NY Examines Second Life
I saw an ad for this when I was (briefly) home and watching my TiVo'd episodes of CSI: NY; needless to say, I was entertained by how stupid this episode looks.
However, it looks like Gary Sinise and his crew might actually do a decent job of examining a MMORPG in their show, since CBS has set up a CSI: NY area in Second Life that is apparently going to be geared towards fans of the show instead of the game:
CSI:NY will be maintaining a permanent presence in Second Life, allowing visitors to take a crack at solving a crime based on evidence found at in-game crime scenes.

OK, that was so much like the South Park Warcraft episode it had to be a joke.
So, while that was definitly done in a very very CSI-esque way, I fear it is only going to throw fuel on alarmest fires.
Granted, that not the intent (one would hope), BUT seeing as alarmests will jump on any and every chance they can to say that games are dangerous. What better fuel then a high tech hacker assasin using Second Life to find people to kill.
Whatever, Non-gamers need to stay out of games.
Side notes. First, I am rather disturbed with the fact they are making a virtual murder for people to solve (though, with some of the other content ingame, I suppose a murder scene is tame). And second, the tech guy was cute.
Law and Order: SVU (AKA Rape of the Week show) did an epp a few weeks ago with a Second-Life type game, and it was pretty bad. Was all about how people use it to act out pedophile fetishes and whatnot. Was amazed though, not a single furry
Havn't seen this CSI, but I assume it can't be much better.
I was going to reference the SVU episode, but PolygonAlchemist beat me to it.
It was laughably awful.
