Everquest Film Is Definitely In The Works

Seriously? Out of all the great games to make a movie out of, and you choose to base a film off of Everquest? There are so many better franchises, including MMOs with way better plotlines one could use... but, hey, I guess when Avi Arad is involved as the producer, it isn't so much about making a quality film as it is about gutting a great franchise (with the exception of Bratz; that franchise was already despicable) and then bastardizing it in a half-hearted attempt to draw brain-dead audiences out to theaters in order to separate them from their hard-earned money.
Michael Gordon, who penned 300's film adaptation, has been hired to write the script for EQ's celluloid interpretation. Call me a cynic, but seeing as how the movie's going to be brought to us by the same guy who gave us Elektra, Blade: Trinity, Ghost Rider, and the train wreck that was Spider-Man 3, I think I'm just going to go lay down and cry a little for gamers everywhere.
EverQuest Film In Works [Sci Fi Wire]

WAIT WAIT WAIT..
People still play Everquest?
Despite shockingly bad dialogue, insubstantial plots and mediocre character developments, "300" and "Electra" were both visually awesome movies. We could at least hope for that?
I think you're being a mite harsh on ol' Mr. Arad there. Yes, he unleashed ELEKTRA on us, but what about SPIDER-MAN 1 and 2? X-MEN 1 and 2? BLADE 1 and 2? DAREDEVIL (the director's cut edition, not that abortion of a theatrical release)? HULK (yes, I remain a fan of it, tho admit its flaws (Absorbing Dad, ungh))?
Just because these franchises tend to unravel by film 3 (tho i don't think Spider-Man was AS bad as people say and would have been immensely better had they just let Raimi do what he wanted) doesn't mean everything the man does is crap.
Oh God! I washed my hands of everquest
Lay down right here, honey.
"Elektra, Blade: Trinity, Ghost Rider, and the train wreck that was Spider-Man 3" But they weren't flops...not even close, so there you go. Did you all really have a problem with his movies?
