GayGamer E for All Gathering In LA: Now It Can Be Told

akbar.jpg

So, we've finally settled on a venue for our GayGamer gathering in LA on Oct. 20. We will be meeting and greeting at Akbar in Silver Lake which is about a ten minute cab ride from the Convention Center area. The address is 4356 Sunset Blvd. (How terribly old school Hollywood! I can feel the ghost of Gloria Swanson over my shoulder even now.) at Fountain and if you'd like to check out the fancy digs, you can see pics on their website. The festivities will begin at 8pm guaranteeing that we'll have the place to ourselves for a few hours before it starts filling up. Feel free to bring friends and your portables. See you there!

Silverlake is NOT 10 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. You're talking about a $20-30 cab ride.

David B. said:

You'd do much better to take the subway(across the street from the Convention Center) to the Red Line Sunset/Vermont station. Take a cab from there (make sure you have a cell phone and a cab company phone number) to Akbar.

Even with all that, you'll still get there 20 minutes sooner than driving directly.

why I disagree with that, just the other day I took Sunset down after dropping a friend off, passed Akbar, and sure enough was lost in downtown no more than 3 songs later.

when you get there, be sure to tell the guy at the door who looks like Elvis is his hero (because it is) that Ultraboy says hi!

(seriously)

Muddy said:

Oh christ. I'll go, but Akbar is usually pretty crowded, if I recall.

Fruit Brute said:

Ah yes, Muddy. Which is precisely why we scheduled it early. When I called the guy said "OH, that early you'll have the whole place to yourselves."

OMG I've totally been to that bar. My last trip to LA was old gayborhood day tours followed by smashed in West Hollywood. Akbar was great though...

If Akbar gets too packed we can always move it over to Barcade. It's an awesome dive in Koreatown with classic arcade games, cheap beer, and rad music...?

o wow! thats so fun, but wait, AKBAR is for 21+ right? anybody got a fake ID?

(i like live near silver lake, but since its LA everyone is near everyone)
