Guitar Hero III In-Game "Partnerships"

Right. And by "Partnerships," read "Ads."
Activision has put out a press release touting the "authenticity" of the hotly-anticipated release of Guitar Hero III because of the use of real-world music instruments in the game. See, I wouldn't even consider that in-game advertising, because it makes perfect sense to have music equipment by Gibson and Zildjian. On the other hand, Pontiac and Axe... they've got a little less to do with music.
"By forging exclusive relationships with key companies in the music and consumer packaged goods industries we are able to bring an even greater depth of realism to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," said Dave Anderson, sr. director of business development for Activision. "From venues like Pontiac Garage, to customized guitars from Axe, the game delivers the ultimate rock and roll experience."
I don't want a guitar that advertises cheap body spray on it. And is the Pontiac Garage an actual venue? I mean, how does Axe Body Spray help deliver the "ultimate rock and roll experience?" Look. Some in-game adverts are fine. As long as they're appropriate to the subject. But I really don't want my Guitar Hero turning into an ad-covered NASCAR-kind-of-thing.
(Oh, and did anyone else who previewed the GHIII demo feel like the covers were kind of bad?)

I fell the same way, but they got to also set limits in in-game advertising. I don't want those "partners" to show up everywhere everytime... The covers were OK, the response from the old GH2 controller (Xplorer) is better it seems...
An Axe spray guitar?? That's a little ridunculous to me. About the covers, they were not bad..
