Harmonix Axes Guitars From New Game

HarmonixLogo.jpg

The guys behind the ultra smash hits, Guitar Hero and Rock Band have something special in store for their fans. The next project will not use the guitar peripherals. That's right, no more axes.

The upcoming 2008 Games Developer Conference has slated an event with Chris Foster, a senior designer at Harmonix, called "Your Music is the Game: Designing the OTHER Project at Harmonix."

What will this project be you ask? No one is for certain. The only clues we have to go on is the details for the event where it says the music will be "algorithmically generated" instead of programmed by "tech-savvy musicians". Also the game will lack the dedicated peripherals of the previous titles Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Harmonix knocked the ball out of the park with their previous games, can they go for a third with the upcoming one? I have a feeling they know what they are doing. Now all we have to do is wait for this mystery title to appear at GDC.

I really hope that the game in question is something along of the lines of Frequency/Amplitude. Also, this is going to provide me with another excuse to say that "I wish GDC wasn't so expensive." I wonder how many more dev's would show up if the prices were a little more reasonable.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
