Video: Indie Hotness: Everyday Shooter
While living in his mother’s basement, Jonathan Mak coded Everyday Shooter with the goal to make the simplest game possible. After showing the title at the Independent Games Festival, Sony became interested in the game, and offered him a deal. Fast-forward several months later, the game is hitting the PlayStation network this week. Needless to say, Mak no longer codes in his mom's basement.
Everyday Shooter is a dual-analog shooter with a heavy dose of art direction. Essentially the game is a vector-based shoot-em-up where every explosion releases a chain reaction of guitar riffs that is wonderfully soothing, while the gameplay is utterly frantic as any good shmup should be. The juxtopostion of the soundtrack to the gameplay creates an otherworldly experience like no other. It’s like swimming and shooting in a sonic stew.
Similar to Every Extend Extra, each level has its own theme visually and sonically. He designed the title to be like a game album where each level is a separate track to a larger piece.
Jonathan Mak did not strike gold immediately with his first game Gate 88. He self admittedly created a game too complex for its own good. Although looking at the screens, you can see where the seed was planted for his success with Everyday Shooter. Gate 88 is available for Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux, so everyone can take a stab at his “deep space intergalactic battle inspired by herzog zwei, star control, subspace, homeworld, and parsec47”
Look for Everyday Shooter to hit the PlayStation Network late Thursday evening to early Friday morning.

I saw this featured in Game Informer and on G4 if I remember right. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me want to get a ps3, not Metal Gear Solid 13 of Final Fantasy MVIXXMIXXXXVIII
I love unique games =)
Rez + Geometry Wars = must buy
I'm going to sit in that store until it drops.
Definitely looks interesting. I'd probably be interested in it if I had a PS3.
