Iwata's Gift Is Not A Wii Price Cut

While I'm not exactly sure who was expecting Nintendo to announce a Wii price cut this holiday, company president Satoru Iwata has laughed in their face. Well, not literally, but come on! Price cut? Really?!
Iwata himself laid those rumors to rest on Friday from Tokyo. "We're absolutely not considering a price cut," he stated. "We're still focusing on how to meet booming demand."
More on what Iwata did give to Wii users after the jump.
Although Iwata won't be saving would be Wii owners any money this season, he did "unwrap" gifting, a feature that will be coming soon to the increasingly robust Wii Shop Channel. This new option will allow Wii owners to purchase Virtual Console titles (and possibly forthcoming Wii Ware titles) and gift them to friends via their Wii console.
The feature will be a nice addition to the current Nintendo network offerings. While gifting may not be a feature that everyone will use, you can't bitch about a feature that enables people to buy your games for you.
