Mass Effect Gold, Talkin'

Mass Effect has gone gold, says the BioWare website:
Spacefarers Rejoice! Mass Effect has gone gold and will be offered in a limited collector's edition. An exclusive bonus disc is also available at participating US retailers while supplies last if you pre-order the game.
Meanwhile, Masshole Chris Priestly, BioWare Community Coordinator, talks to IGN, telling gamers to expect around 250 planets in the game - not all of which are explorable due to the realities of, you know, reality:
Wow, you found a great big gas giant! If you tried to land on it, you would die instantly because the atmosphere is corrosive⦠so not everything you can land on. Some things you just look at and leave. Other times we have subplots where you can recover gases and strange minerals and that kind of thing - where you can do some scanning for materials.
But we can also expect "around 20 to 30 full-sized, plot-driven planets, as well as some DLC by 2008. Check out the whole interview!
