More Guitar Hero III Tracks Revealed

OMG, Pat!

Activision have released a brand spanking new list of songs that, surprisingly, have some more modern 'hits' on it. Songs like Bloc Party's Helicopter (I like them a lot) and When You Were Young by The Killers (Sam's Town was an awful album). Other than those two, I didn't spy any newer tracks on there on my initial scan of the playlist. Still, the list is a good one. See for yourself:

  • Same Old Song and Dance (by Aerosmith)
  • Helicopter (by Bloc Party)
  • Stricken (by Disturbed)
  • Monsters (by Matchbook Romance)
  • Before I Forget (by Slipknot)
  • Kool Thing (by Sonic Youth)
  • When You Were Young (by The Killers)
  • Devil Went Down to Georgia (as made famous by Charlie Daniels Band)
  • Sunshine of Your Love (as made famous by Cream)
  • Holiday in Cambodia (as made famous by Dead Kennedys)
  • Cliffs of Dover (as made famous by Eric Johnson)
  • Hit Me with Your Best Shot (as made famous by Pat Benetar)
  • Black Magic Woman (as made famous by Santana)
  • Story of My Life (as made famous by Social Distortion)
  • Pride and Joy (as made famous by Stevie Ray Vaughn)
  • The Seeker (as made famous by The Who)
  • Black Sunshine (as made famous by White Zombie)

So let's see, we have songs from The Who, Pat Benatar, Sonic Youth, Charlie Daniels Band and his overplayed song, plus some Santana for some hot guitar action. Looks neato. Any favorites or songs that you absolutely hate on this list?

omgz, Santana! finally! i only hope the downloadable song packs from their prior attempts will work with the new game, in much the same way that DDR packs work with new ddr games.

I am very excited now. Many of the tracks I already saw prior to this were not my cup of tea.

Yay new game for my Wii!!

I'm really looking forward to playing 'Cherub Rock.'

Now if only I had a 360.

"Pride and Joy" I could live without. The rest seem okay, I'm glad they picked one of Aerosmith's good songs to add, instead of anything they've made since 1985...

Respect for pulling out the Benatar pic. Still buying rock band first though.

I still have nightmares about Pat Benatar. Only because when I was driving home through Idaho with my girlfriend (later my wife), I drove 6 hours through a blizzard while she slept. The only sound in the car was the Pat Benatar CD playing over. And over. And over again. I learned every song by heart. Then I hated every song in my heart.

Finally, my wife woke up, the blizzard eased, and radio stations came back. And as I flipped on the radio, the first thing I hear is "And coming up next from the 80's, it's Pat Benatar!"

Hell is not just for children....

Oh, my god. I love Stricken; it's one of the fewer new-ish songs that really hit me when I first heard it. Looking forward to Before I Forget, as well!

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
