NBC's The Office Opens Branch In Second Life?

And here I thought The Office was on top of the cultural zeitgeist. But in the episode "Local Ad," airing Thursday, October 25, Dwight explores the online world of Second Life. I guess it's pretty much the Dwights of the world who you expect to find in Second Life, although I'd much rather run into a Jim, personally. Not that I ever got Second Life to run on my Mac with anything resembling a reasonable frame rate before freezing entirely. Of course, after watching the cavemen of Cavemen (what — I had to watch the pilot so I could legitimately rag on how bad it was!) play the Wii without their wrist straps properly attached, I don't hold out much hope that The Office will accurately represent online gaming. TV rarely gets gaming right. Then again, for all I know, someone on the writing staff could be a huge SL addict. You never know who you're gonna meet over there!
The Office Takes Out A "Local Ad" [Just Jared]

Great, an unfunny overrated tv show tries to plug itself into something only a select few people use to masturbate with and/or try to futher their political campaigns in a final act of "look how cool and with it i am" futility. Woopdeedoo.
I seriously love the office, never miss it - took me a while to get it, but this, its german derivative and How I met your mom are the funniest shows currently running in my opinion. And seeing how technical things are pretty accurately depicted except for intentional comedy around some of the characters, I assume The Office is going to treat SL with the respect it deserves - you decide what you think that means :P
