Netflix Interested In PS3 For Video On Demand

While Xbox 360 owners have been enjoying video on demand services through the Marketplace, PS3 owners have been left out in the dust. Sony assures their fans they are bringing a video distribution service to the PSN, but who knows how long that could take. Netflix is eyeballing the PS3 to deliver on-demand video.
The president, CEO and board chairman of Netflix, said,
"In terms of enabling the viewing of online content on the television screen, we are exploring a variety of options, including Internet connected, high definition DVD players, internet connected game consoles, and dedicated internet set tops, with a variety of partners, trying to understand the best ways to provide inexpensive viewing of online content on the television."
This would be a great avenue for Netflix to allow their customers to rent physical and/or digital copies of their movies by either mailing in a DVD, or just download it from the console. I hope this goes through, I would love to be able to download movies from Netflix directly to my console. Now we just have to see if Sony is willing to share their PlayStation Store with the Netflix store.
Netflix interested in PS3 video-on-demand service [PS3 Fanboy]

Did the Netflix guy actually mention the PS3 by name, or did the fine folks at "ps3fanboy.com" forget that there's another non-Xbox, internet-connected console besides the PS3 that has about 4 times the audience as the PS3?
One that already abuses the TV metaphor to the point of calling its different services "channels", and has already demonstrated its streaming video abilities in a number of different ways?
Let's just hope we don't have to buy Wii Points cards to watch each movie on the pay-per-view Netflix Channel.
