Quick & Dirty: Rocket Bowl

Course-Challenge.jpg

During D3Publisher's Fall Tour of NYC, I had a brief moment with this little gem, which takes all the bubblegum pop culture camp of bowling and combines it with an almost Mario Kart sense of fun: Rocket Bowl brings a retro vibe to the XBLA with 10 crazy courses in addition to a regular bowling alley, a selection of rocket-powered balls (a concept that Boy of Tomorrow is very familiar with...go ahead and ask, he loves that!) and upgradeable equipment.

In addition to the standard single-player mode, Rocket Bowl brings in the noise and the funk with up-to-four-person multiplayer matches both locally and over LIVE. And where better than XBLA to debate the real meaning of such ball names as "Strawbally," "8-ball," "The Jupiter 5000" and of course, my own favorite, the "Kalamazoo Special." That winter in Michigan was magical...
