Rock Band: You Have Questions, They Have Answers.

hm2.jpg

I'm not going to lie, there are maybe two people that will get the reference I made there and they are going to hate me for it. So, there is a lot of hubbub surrounding the pending release of Rock Band. Release lists, prices, bundles and everything else you could possibly imagine. Thankfully, the good folks at BBPS managed to sit down with the PR people at Harmonix and get answers for nearly every question that I could imagine asking.

For a quick run down, it was confirmed that the game will only come bundled until 2008. This means that losers like me without any gamer friends will be forced to pony up the cool $170 for all the accessories until 2008 (which will go mostly unused). They suggested that they considered a $100 version with just a guitar but ultimately scrapped it. They considered the full package a better value. Wireless? It is missing because Microsoft's proprietary wireless is expensive to include.

As far as the song selection goes Rock Band will feature between 40 to 50 songs (excluding the locked tracks). The final number has yet to be determined. They also went on to talk about something about Metallica, but honestly, I've hated them since the whole Napster thing. I hate you, Lars. There is also word that there will be new downloadable content every week until the end of 2007. Sorry to tell you PS2 users, you're excluded from this feature.

There was really a lot more than I can possibly list here. Harmonix really appears to be pulling out all the stops on this title, and it is looking like I'm going to be out a lot of money come November.
