Rockstar Fights Manhunt 2 Ban In UK

In the wake of the British Board of Film Classification's ban of Manhunt 2, Rockstar has released a statement that they feel the changes suggested by the BBFC are "unacceptable" and will continue to appeal the ban.
"We are continuing to appeal the British Board of Film Classification's decision to deny the edited version of Manhunt 2 an 18-plus certificate and thereby ban its release in the United Kingdom. The changes necessary in order to publish the game in Britain are unacceptable to us and represent a setback for videogames. The BBFC allows the adults the freedom to decide for themselves when it comes to horror movies, and we think adults should be similarly allowed to decide for themselves when it comes to horror in videogames, such as Manhunt 2."
Best of luck to them. Unfortunately, ratings boards always argue that they're still giving people the choice, and that the ratings don't matter, but the fact is, theaters won't screen or advertise X-rated films, and stores won't sell adult-rated games. Heck, that's if Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo would even allow an AO game on their system, which they have already said they won't. So keep fighting the good fight, Rockstar, and we're behind you every step of the way (and no, that's not a garrote wire in my hands! Honest!).

Woot, dearest. I love you for that image. I'm sending smooches from Hotlanta.
Go Rockstar.
I don't think ratings boards should be able to deny any game, however violent to people over the age of 18. By all means, make it 18 and over (which in the UK is very strict; selling to under 18s is actually a crime), it's obviously not a game for kids. But adults should be able to make their own decision, not have the state make it for them.
THey should just release the European version in the US and allow all the British folks to order from US retailers....hehe!
