New Samba De Amigo Details Emerge For Wii

Amigo the monkey wants to play.

A while back, we learned that famed Dreamcast game, Sambo De Amigo, would be shaking its way onto the Wii. As the sombrero-wearing monkey, Amigo, you shake the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like maracas. Since this is a rhythm game, you have to time everything to the visual beats of the music on-screen, but you probably already know all that, here are some newer details.

The Wii version will feature new songs as well as some old ones from the original. There will be a number of stages and characters for you to shake your maracas in. This game will be one to keep an eye on. It has been many years since I have played SDA, but I definitely remember it being a blast with fantastic music to boot. Over the next few months, we'll see the release of the full song listing and new features. Keep your fingers crossed, let's hope they do this one right.

Now we need Space Channel 5 Part 2 (The Japanese version PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE), and a serious sequel as well. Samba De Amigo is awesome enough for now though.

I loved Samba on the Dreamcast, I just hated the crappy 3rd party maracas. I hope this comes out soon and they do it right!!

I sure hope they support a dual Wiimote configuration instead of the Wiimote+Nunchuk. Otherwise this will become Samba de Smack Me In The Face With That Stupid Cord.

Now one of my many video game dreams has come true. I am a huge music game nerd after all and loved Samba De Amigo for the Dreamcast. I hope to see a sequel for Space Channel 5 soon.

To Thunderstorm,

Space Channel 5: Special Edition was released in the U.S. for the PS2 that included both Part 1 & 2. Sure it wasn't the Japanese versions but I doubt they would release a Japanese game without translating it first...unless you mean a release for the JPN Wii.

Space Channel 5 part 2 was so good, not even the possibility of a "just okay" translation could keep it down. And as a owner of the limited edition dreamcast version, I can tell you that you're not missing much with the change in dialog.

I absolutely loved Samba de Amigo, though I was completely closeted about it. I literally hid it in the closet and played it only when I was alone. As eager as I am to see its return, there is something to be said for using those chunky red, old school moroccas.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
