The Reggie Says, "No Wii For You This Christmas!"

Reggie Fils-Aime, Tiny's love obsession, recently was interviewed by the San Jose Mercury News. In that interview, the Hulk-like but adorable Nintendo president boasted that they have not been able to meet the seemingly unquenchable thirst for Wii. In fact, Fils-Aime said that they have been sold out worldwide since launch. When asked about the availability of the Wii this upcoming Holiday Season, he responded with the following:
"We're working very hard to make sure that consumers are satisfied this holiday, but I can't guarantee that we're going to meet demand," he said. "As a matter of fact, I can tell you on the record we won't."
Reggie continues to assert that economics have nothing to do with Nintendo's inability to meet demand. Is the demand truly that great? I guess it is, Nintendo would be foolish to not produce enough Wiis to to satisfy the appetites of gamers worldwide. Then again, the shortage could, as some people like to believe, just feed the hype machine. The Wii is a fantastic system and has some killer games coming out this season, so I don't really think that's the issue or, if it is, it's not the only one. What do you think?

uh... yes. Nintendo is pushing these things out like hotcakes. I see 100s leave daily, we make them as fast as we can, but seriously, from when i worked retail a while ago we would sell out the moment we got them in, and from the warehouse, we are shipping like made.
Since the launch, I've only seen a Wii in stores 4 times. Four! I don't think it would be humanly possible for them to make enough Wiis for everybody (not just USA) this holiday season.
Wow, it's crazy because it would have been almost a year (at least over here in the UK). I do believe Nintendo is making Wiis as fast as they feasibly and financially possible, and not holding back because it's been almost a year and it would be crazy!
