Valve Deactivates International Copies Of The Orange Box
Apparently, Valve, the developer of Half Life and all that good stuff, is "deactivating" copies of The Orange Box that were purchased from retailers not authorized to do business with US customer. One person wrote in to The Consumerist about the issue stating that these copies were purchased from very well known international sites that typically have lower prices than are offered here in the States. Todd, the gentleman who wrote the e-mail, added that this happened after about a week after first playing the game. A thread concerning this issue started on Valve's website, www.steampowered.com, was apparently removed by the site operators.
From what I have read on the article, it looks like this will be an absolute mess. Even those who went out and bought a new copy from a US retailer are having problems. If you want to read more, follow the link and give us your thoughts on the issue. For a thread of people trying to get refunds, click here.
Valve "Deactivating" Customers Who Bought "Orange Box" Internationally [The Consumerist]

Good job, guys. Prove that it pays to pirate. Make legitimate purchases such a non-option that the entire world simply stops giving you money. That will no doubt end well.
Valve.com? Link broken, should be www.steampowered.com :)
So... is Valve's Motto something like:
"Day to day, pissing off hundreds of customers at a time." or what?
As if it's not bad enough that you go out, buy Orange Box and you don't even get the game there, you get a copy of Steam and STILL have to download the game?
It could have been "valvesoftware.com" instead of "valve.com"? Regardless...
This is an odd choice, isn't it? I'm not going to look into what people are saying about it (cause I'm a lazy shit), but I hope Valve is giving them the option of getting it via Steam at a ridiculously discounted price? I mean, I'm sure Valve got SOME of the money from those retailers...?
