Video: New World Building RPG From Square Enix For Wii Ware

At the huge Nintendo Fall Press Conference in Japan, a new Square Enix game was unveiled for Nintendo’s new Wii Ware initiative. The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Young King and the Promised Land is being developed by none other than Square Enix, which involves world-building mechanics, a first to the Final Fantasy series.

Players will be able to build their own country in this title, and some of the building gameplay can be seen in the video. Look for the part where a glowing square with an arrow overlay appears on the city street. Then in the next animation is a cut scene, showing the erection of the building. ☺ Quite impressive!

FFCC: The Young King and the Promised Land
will be available for download to the Wii from Wii Connect. The question remains, ‘How will this whole game fit on 512MB of internal storage?’ I have a feeling they will allow these games to be downloaded and launched from the SD slot. Is there any other solution?

There's one other possibility. I noticed that many things in this game bear striking resemblances to the screens shown for the offline Wii FF:CC game, The Crystal Bearers. What if the downloadable game required the offline game disc, and simply accessed a lot of the graphic files, music, etc. from the game disc? That would drastically reduce the amount of space this game would take up. I don't know how likely this is, but its an idea.

Wow, I wasn't expecting it to look so nice. I thought it would be more of a PC style game like SimCity. I wasn't expecting it to be in 3D with so much going on. I knew it, the external hard drive will be another add on to the Wii. Seriously, the Wii is just made for add ons! But, I am not complaining, WiiWare and DS demos available from home? Thank you Nintendo!
