Wii Goes To Rehab

"They try to make Wii go to rehab, but I say no, no no..."
So the Wii has found another niche for itself. After becoming a popular pastime with nursing home residents (good to know I don't ever have to give up my gaming addiction!), Nintendo's little console that could has brought it's waggle into hospitals. The Inpatient Rehabilitiation Unit at Bridgeport Hospital is one of a handful of therapy programs that is using the Wii as part of its physical therapy routine.
Even patients who have suffered debilitating strokes are regaining muscle movement and balance through playing Wii Sports. And I love that the hospital purchased two Wii systems using money from its Ladies' Auxiliary. That's just too cute. I picture blue-haired old women holding bake sales to buy videogames. Really, though, it's a genius way to break up the monotony of traditional physical therapy. Waving your arm around is a lot more fun when you're swinging at virtual tennis balls!

In semi-related news, "adult" Wii parties are being held on Disney Cruise Line vacations. And by "adult", I don't mean lingere, I mean "grown folks".
I want to have Nintendo's babies.
