Will Wright: Spore In Six Months

According to creator Will Wright, we should be seeing the long awaited, highly anticipated life-sim Spore in "roughly" six months. In an interview with Radio 5 Live, Wright stated that the game is fully playable and is entering it's final stages of testing. Why the long wait? Wright explains...
We've had to do a lot of testing to make sure that the game is accessible by a wide group of people... I want the people who have played The Sims to be able to play Spore - I don't want it to be some thing just hardcore gamers play."
It's good to see game makers trying to expand their audiences a bit by providing elements that will appeal to multiple types of gamers. BioShock combined a heavy story element along with it's FPS base to create a game that got even non FPS aficionados interested. The creators of Zak and Wiki have done likewise by combining a strong family element with a very adult friendly puzzle solving mechanic. Not that every game needs to cross these kinds of lines, but the more that do, the higher the chance that well begin seeing more true innovation in gaming.

note the WW never said "six 'consecutive' months"...
;)
So April at the very, very best? Will has said many things before, so I'll hold off on celebration until an official release date. Regardless, it will be worth the wait!
Six months, give or take a decade.
