You Gotta Love It When They Pay Attention Like That

godsandheroespreorder.jpg

Sooooo... remember how Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising managed to get put on indefinite hold? Yeah, that generally means that it's being taken away to a ranch in the mountains, where it can run and frolic with other games put on hold. Or, at least, that's what they tell me. Well, guess what? Even though the Gods and Heroes is probably never coming back, we can still pre-order it from my favorite stores ever.

That still isn't keeping both the EBs and Gamestops I visited yesterday from proudly displaying its preorder box on store shelves. Preorder this cancelled MMO today! Just $5 down!

Oy.

They still sell Auto Assault game cards at GameStop, too.

There was a corporate email to remove them. Its the retarded managers...

Good to see that some things never change with Gamestop even though I have been away from the states so long.

I say go and grab one of the boxes. Honestly preorder stuff for games that will never be are quite rare and sometimes may become valuable, the more common the title, the more valuable it is.

OK, I'm getting pretty fed up with this. What's the deal with all the Gamestop bashing? We make one tiny mistake and you all freak out. Look, the preorders are refundable. You get your moneys back. Oops, we made a damn mistake! Ever happen to you? Forget to take your clothes out of the dryer? Forget to walk Spot? If it's that huge of a deal, don't come in our stores. You can get your games at Target, or Best Buy, or Wal-Mart, or K-Mart, or... need I go on?

I think it's the pattern of bullshit that's uniquely GameStop that spawns the bashing.

Well, I guess for trying to provide more to customers such as presell bonuses or the ability to guarantee their game is why GameStop is being slammed so much. Maybe they should just stop them all together and become another retailer like Best Buy or Target who doesn't care about games and has people working there who know absolutely nothing. I'm not saying that all the stores are perfect by any means but people need to get a clue and realize that companies aren't prefect. Its the companies who won't fix it and make it right that suck.

... Seriously, though, Steven hit the nail on the head. It isn't one little thing that makes us hate GameStop, it's the fact that there's another "little thing" every damn week. The bullshit piles up fast. I hate corporate giants as much as the ext guy, but I buy my games at Best Buy because I don't have to deal with their bullshit. I can grab my game, give them my money, and get the hell on my merry way. Shopping at GameStop is more like a quest than an errand.

ZukinLWW said:

I'm not a plant, I've admitted several times here that I work at Gamestop. And that's great for you, Platy, that you shop at Best Buy. All I'm asking is that if everyone else doesn't like Gamestop, then don't go there. The people that realize we're trying to save you a couple bucks every now and then, or even just get through a work day like everyone else while dealing with bosses who can never get enough from us are few and far between, and treasured.

That was a joke, guy.

For the record, GameStop has never "saved" me anything. Not money, not time, and certainly not hassle.

Actually, I take that back. GameStop was great way back in the day. But that was a long time ago. On rare occasion I manage to still find one of those, but those old style GameStop's where the employees know what they're talking about and are willing to engage in sincere conversation without trying to sell me a bunch of crap, are a dying breed.

Now, half the time I call to ask if a store has a game in stock, or want to pre-order something, the guy behind the counter doesn't even know what I'm talking about. It's a hair away from dealing with the 70 year old running the electronics section at Wal-Mart.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
