Rumorama: Hidden Character In Super Mario Galaxy - Spoiler Ahead!
Ok, so there's a HUGE SPOILER coming up! Don't read on if you want to be surprised with the new Super Mario Galaxy game!
Phew, now that's out the way and we've gotten rid of those people who love surprises, onto the actual story.
An alleged scan of the upcoming strategy guide for Super Mario Galaxy has revealed a secret unlockable character. Apparently Nintendo have listened to the fans and have included Mario's brother Luigi in the title also.
Luigi will be a playable character, but you have to work hard for the honor. You must collect a whopping 120 stars, complete the purple coin missions and beat the legendary Bowser a couple of times before you see the green suited Luigi. This is great news for Luigi fans. According to the leaked guide, Luigi is able to jump higher than his more rotund brother and can of course run faster. Fans of Luigi rejoice!

YAY! Now my crazy obsession for collecting coins will be rewarded! I bothered to collect all the darn blue coins in Sunshine (along with the rest of the 120 stars) and all I got was a different ending screen! A PICTURE! :( Luigi will at least mean something and sounds like a bit of a challenge too!

That is such a non-spoiler, Selonannon. Are you really saying that you would have beaten the game, gotten all the purple coins, and gone back to beat Bowser a second time, all on your own, without knowing you were going to unlock Luigi?
And Ian, thanks for letting me know it's not worth it to go back and try to get those last three or four shines (a bunch of stray blue coins, and the accursed pachinko and acid river hidden levels.) I actually started SMS again over Labor Day weekend and the pachinko thing almost made me throw the controller again. (If it weren't for the cheap invisible walls and stuff, that might have been a sweet level.)
The last time I gave up on Sunshine, it was after I collected the 8th red coin and then died before collecting the shine.

But again, I am a video game completionist. If I own a game, I and going to squeeze it for every last shred of content it contains before setting it aside. Probably to pick it up and replay it again in a year or so, but eh.
I would have tried to get all the purple coins I could before beating Bowser the first time, but I can't imagine doing a game's final boss battle twice unless I knew something was going to happen after I did.

They gave 9.8 out of 10! It's a ten-minute-long and very complete review. Since I saw that, I can't wait to play this game, it looks amazing, the best Mario platform ever. I think I'll go nuts if I don't get this game very soon.
