Armageddon Nears As Ubisoft's Imagine Games Hit Stores

I guess Dancing With The Stars was just the herald of the true horrors yet to be unleashed upon an unsuspecting gaming population. Bad enough the demon spawn Pony World has arrived to "educate" clever kids, but now what has been foretold has come to pass: Ubisoft has released the first in its Imagine series of DS videogames for girls.
"The Imagine games are a great way for young girls not just to have fun, but to become familiar with today's hottest gaming consoles," said Helene Juguet, senior director of U.S. marketing at Ubisoft. "Ubisoft is excited about being an active participant in further driving this evolution of the gaming market and expanding the world of gaming for young girls."
What I absolutely love is the website for the games that not only calls its audience "Girlz" (the z makes them extreeeeme), but insists that now there's "no need to swipe your brother's games when you can pick up 'n play waaay more interesting stuff likeā¦"
Imagine Animal Doctor lets you run a veterinary hospital that won't be nearly as much fun as the one on The Muppet Show, Imagine Babyz has you raising extreeeeeeme infants, Imagine Fashion Designer lets you play virtual dress-up with anorexic supermodels, and Imagine Master Chef sounds pretty much like Cooking Mama. So I don't really have a problem with that one, except that it's redundant.
So what do you think? Female empowerment or nightmarish harbinger of the horrors to come? Maybe I'm just scared because I'm almost curious to try Imagine Fashion Designer...

I am so buying Fashion Designer, if only to pretend that it's Project Runway DS.
Yes, I realize that I'm part of a larger problem.
these are just horrifying.
am I the only one who reads "Imagine Master CHIEF" every time I see that cooking game?
now THERE'S a game I'd buy!

Ugh. I find these kind of games insulting and condescending, but that's just me. Why draw the gender lines when there are games like Katamari and Zelda and Final Fantasy that can appeal to both genders?
I'm more intrested in WHY girls don't like videogames. Games give me so much fun and enjoyment I can't see why girls don't like them. (or is that not true anymore?)
Also, fashion designer seems kinda fun.
Hahaha! Me too!
I saw babyz, then master chef, then animal doctor...and then i saw FASHION DESIGNER screaming at me. then i actually thought to myself, "How much does that run for?"
haha, i'm glad i'm not the only one. lol

What do we see on most games, publications, etc. made with straight boys in mind?
Girls.

(We know they're for straight girls 'cause they're so gosh darn wholesome)
Girls.
Hmmmm... There could be something to attracting the female gaze to a game box, but I can't put my finger on it.
(Why can't we design fashions for the hunky male models?)
As a woman I am offended. However, I would buy any game called "Babyz".
I'm a girl... I think I'll go back to playing Metal Gear Solid now. Thanks, but no thanks. Real games are fine.
ARRRGGG
Make it stop make it stop make it stop make it stop
My X chromosones! They bleeeeeeed!
I have a feeling that if I let these anywhere near my DS games drawer, they would his threatening at my copy of of Metroid Prime Hunters, hogtie it, and (to the tune of Dueling Banjos) attempt to give it an XTREEM MAKEOVER.
Yes, I saw these horrendous monstrosities sitting on the shelf at my local GameStop yesterday. I felt sorry for the copy of Front Mission sitting next to them. Now that's a game I want, and I'm a female. So take that, stereotype enforcers.
As for "babyz" I had to sit next to a RL one on the bus which screamed all the way home. Why the hell would I want a videogame of that? -_-;;
